Alright now, September is the month to get married in Washington! Tourist season is waning and the weather is generally still fabulous. We are creating a website to make all this posting stuff easier. More info to come.

A huge and Excited SAVE THE DATE!!

Now, for you plan aheaders: Don't go making any hotel, motel or B&B reservations for those nights. We are soft blocking the entire site for our family and friends: 30 acres of woods, pasture, gardens, and beaches are set aside for our group to explore- think like you're going to sleepaway camp and you have the idea. You will still of course find all the comforts of home like running water, electricity, and flush toilets, but we will need your help at daybreak gathering eggs and milking the - just kidding (would be fun though). All you need to know is the site is charming and has a breathtaking view. Your passport to fun is an adventurous spirit and the willingness to engage in something new.
All overnight accommodations are on-site and within walking distance. More details about that to come. We are still figuring out the best way to organize the lodging (Planner Pete calls it clustered mixed-use with plenty of open space), but if you are interested in seeing what's available take a look here.

Doe Bay is located on the eastside of the Orcas Island
"horseshoe", northeast of
Deception Pass (that narrow
passage with a two-pronged landform to the north).
The most common means of travel to Orcas is via Washington State Ferry, departing from the
mainland north of Seattle and
arriving at Orcas' west end.

Good anchorage for allyou mariners.
For now, just put those days on your calendar.
Coming Soon (in the next 6 months):
1. What else to do on Orcas Island?
2. What else to do in the San Juans?
3. What is the schedule for the weekend?
4. How to get there?
5. What to eat?
6. How do I reserve a house, cabin, yurt etc?
7. What should I bring?
8. Can I bring my dog or cat?
9. Should I drive on a ferry, take a sea plane, hop on a private chartered boat, or
ride an Orca?
10. Can I stay at Doe Bay longer?
11. What can I do to help?
12. What major airport(s) are nearby?
13. How much do we love you and want you to come?
14. Wow! I love the Northwest! How do I move here?
Why A Paperless Announcement?
We decided to make use of this fun technology for a few reasons. First, to cut down on our use of paper in getting all the details of our wedding to our friends and family. Second, so that we can stay in touch with you all along the planning way. Third, so we can dork it up as much as possible. Fourth, we entered a contest in Modern Bride (kidding again).
Mainly, there are a handful of key logistical components (lodging, transportation to the island, etc) and fun surprises we want to communicate to you all as the big weekend approaches, and think this medium is the best way to get everyone on board (literally). We'll work out the details so you don't have to - this is all about celebrating the union of us, our families, and friends. We hope to see you next August!
